Love is shining bright in Sherwood Park.
On Sunday, Sept. 15, Stand Up For Love will be hosting their 10th anniversary benefit concert and fundraiser at Festival Place. The event will feature a number of local dancers and singers performing throughout the night as well as a silent auction and 50/50 raffle. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Neurosurgery Kids Fund at the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.
“Our dad was diagnosed with kidney failure and later liver cancer, but thankfully he received a successful double kidney-liver transplant 14 years ago,” said event organizer Lindsay Pantoja. “Our family went through so many challenges but our faith and the love and support we received from friends and family, got us through the toughest season. My sister, Arianne Chu and I, were then inspired to create a family-centred event that emulated love, hope and faith. We named it “Stand Up for Love” because love is an action. We wanted to make a difference and bring people together to share talents and resources to help make an impact in our community.”
For nearly a decade, Stand Up for Love has raised and donated almost $108,000 to the Stollery Children’s Hospital. The Neurosurgery Kids Fund helps support kids and their families affected by brain and spinal cord injury and illness.
Some of the evenings performances include a parkour and free-running performance by Flyfree Movement, dancing by Kore Dance Studio, Shelley’s Dance Company, and music from Mackenzie Dayle, Paul Woida, Haleiy Benedict and many more.
The silent auction begins at 5 p.m. and the benefit concert kicks off at 6. The best way to help out is to get a ticket, come out to the event and participate in the 50/50 raffle draw and silent auction. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Donations will also be accepted.
