The Spruce Grove Saints were defeated 7–4 Saturday night at the Drayton Valley Omniplex.
The Thunder were looking to avenge their prior night’s performance when they opened up the scoring with an early power play goal by Grayson Reid. The Saints answered on a power play of their own with a lamp-lighter by Caiden Gault. That was followed by two more Thunder goals from Mason Marcellus and Tyler Blocha, closing out the first period with a score of 3–1 in favour of Drayton Valley.
The Saints were the first to find the back of the net in period two with a power play goal by Nikola Jovanovic. The Thunder’s Kabe Bleay then scored on Drayton Valley’s second power play of the night. Julien Blouin gave the Thunder a three-goal lead before Spruce Grove’s Brett Pfoh answered with a goal less than 20 seconds later. The second period ended with a score of 5–3 for the Thunder.
The third period saw the Saints’ Caiden Gault net his second goal of the night on a power play. That would be the last by Spruce Grove before the Thunder’s Evan Forrest netted his first of the season. Kabe Bleay sealed Drayton Valley’s win with an empty-net goal shot from the Thunder’s face-off circle.
An update on the Saints’ next game will be provided when they update their schedule.
